Pool Update – Opening 2026 - Happy 90th Anniversary

27th May 2026 was the 90th anniversary of the opening of Ashburton Baths at the Golden Lion Hotel by the then Portreeve on Wednesday 27th May 1936. (See our timeline here)

The final phase of the pool leak repair work has included repairs to the inlet and outlet pipework, and a new pool liner and has now been completed. The pool has been checked, filled, heated and treated, so we are ready to open for the summer and beyond.

We will be opening Sunday 28th June at 1pm

What a day! A huge thank you to all the volunteers who came along today to help us get the pool ready for the summer season. Whether is was an hour or all day or if you just popped in to say hello, it was lovely to see you all! Lots of jobs ticked off but still got many more to do! Our next volunteer day/evening is on Tues between 6-9pm. We could love it if you could come and help out for an hour or two!

Let's get ready for Summer! Who is ready for the pool to open? We could have done with it in all this hot weather 🫠 But we are on track for an end of June opening and as part of that, we need to get the site spruce up and ready. Our first volunteer day is this weekend on Sunday and we would love for anyone to pop in and say hello, stay for a bit or the whole day and help with cleaning, pressure washing or weeding the site. Of course if you just want to pop your head in and say hi (and bring us some biscuits) that would also be gratefully appriciated. See you there!

Our town really does have a fantastic history and we are so pleased that the pool is part of this- and still welcoming swimmers throughout the summer season.

It's that time of year again! After the progress of phase two of the pool repairs, we are starting to look forward to getting the site ready to open for the summer! We are looking for members of our community to pop down on any of the volunteer days
It's that time of year again! After the progress of phase two of the pool repairs, we are starting to look forward to getting the site ready to open for the summer! We are looking for members of our community to pop down on any of the volunteer days to help out with weeding, cleaning and various painting jobs. Help out for an hour or the whole day - we will be grateful for all the help we can get! No experience necessary as there are lots of jobs to get done, but if you do have carpentry or plumbing skills, we would love to have a chat to you about a few more specialist jobs that need doing! First one this Saturday 31st May 10- 3pm.
